Amplify Health Asia Pte. Limited (AH) is currently seeking a full-time Head of Mobile Engineering to lead the company’s development in all aspects of mobile platforms (inclusive of iOS, Android and Web).
Accountable to set the standards for Front-End engineering (mobile and web) capabilities across AH through enabling best practices and components that can be leveraged in mobile app development. Provide thought leadership and management of a team of developers as well as mentoring and on-boarding a team to develop re-useable frameworks for Bus and customers. The candidate should also be hands-on and proficient in modern multi-platform systems such as React Native and Flutter.
The Head of Mobile Engineering position is responsible for leading the team that creates and architects new mobile applications, maintaining and improving existing features on existing applications, and working with our Product team to develop innovative solutions that meet AH’s growing customer needs. They will be code contributors and will be full stack.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead all mobile application development, including the code base for the entire mobile application front-end
- Recruit other great, innovative front-end and full-stack engineers
- Work with proven, multi-exit successful Product Managers and UI/UX Designers to add to and create an awesome user experience
- Take an active role in product conception and design
- Architect and engineer clean solutions to UX flows and components for cross-platform app development with React Native or Flutter, for both Android and iOS platform
- Establish and nurture conceptual feedback channels with visual design and backend teams
- Maintain a high level of code quality
- Integrate the best practice of the mobile development (Android & iOS) into automation tools as part of the SDLC (Agile adapted) practice with DevOps & Automated Testing
- Provide technical leadership to senior technical leads and vendor leads to ensure best practices are adhered to for maximum reuse across the company
- Work closely with UX designers and co-create solutions that are easy to implement, scalable, yet engaging for our customers
- Create and manage a governance best practice to maintain the quality and security of code across all the local BUs
- Measure, collaborate and lift capability within AH, work closely with development teams to ensure the components/ screens produced are readily consumable in implementation
- Work closely with offsite teams to ensure that implementation of the components/screens will produce desired UI solutions
- Work closely with security and DevOps teams to ensure the delivery of secure and stable applications
- Work within the existing framework but always suggest improvements in how we work, and choice of platforms/technologies
- Stay informed and in tune with the latest methodologies, best practices, trends in the web/app development
- Must communicate regularly with the other project stakeholders, BU project members, technical leads and enterprise architecture team members, aligning the Application Architecture with the Business, Integration, Security and Infrastructure/architectures
- Work with the Vendors, BUs IT teams, technical leads and architects on assigned local initiatives and ensure Group standards are followed through engagement
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience leading agile development teams, also excellent record in recruiting like-minded full stack engineering talent
- Ever shipped multiple applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store that has received positive consumer feedback & adoption
- Ability to lead agile development practices
- Ability to work in various team sizes that could scale to a team of ten plus developers across various disciplines
- Ability to provide leadership to development teams
- Prior work in a high-paced, high-energy Startup Culture
- Bachelor's degree or 4+ years professional experience
- Given this leadership role, prefer local candidates. However, AH is open to the ideal candidate in a remote location provided ability to work Pacific Time hours
- Minimum 5+ years React Native, 1+ year Flutter experience and shows proactivity in constantly upskilling and learning other similar cross-platform frameworks with capability to support current Android/iOS apps
- Must be organized, able to work with minimal supervision, flexible to switch between different projects, and manage your own time well
- Able to think strategically and develop scalable solutions
- Able to look at issues from customer and business perspectives in addition to technology perspective
- Experience collaborating with designers within a customer-centric design process and a passion for building amazing user-facing products
- Experience managing/partnering with other engineers, including offsite teams, in launching products at large scale
