We are seeking a Senior Architect to join our R&D team in Hong Kong or China. This role is crucial for driving our product development, designing scalable solutions, and ensuring the highest standards of performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in architecture design, a deep understanding of communication technologies, and a passion for innovation.

Responsibilities

1. Diagnose product issues and drive architectural improvements and implementations.

2. Optimize service performance within a cloud-native architecture, focusing on middleware, databases, and application systems.

3. Design and architect large-scale distributed systems, such as:

• Databases capable of storing billions of messages
• Systems ensuring low latency message delivery (e.g., 100-1000 messages per second)

4. Develop an enterprise service performance optimization system leveraging cloud technologies.

5. Participate in technical operations and drive product iterations.

1. Bachelor’s degree or above in a computer-related field with more than 8 years of software development experience.

2. Proficient in MySQL and MongoDB.

3. Familiar with other relational databases such as DM and PG, and NoSQL databases like Redis; able to choose the appropriate database for different scenarios.

4. Skilled in using performance analysis and debugging tools to identify and analyze application service performance bottlenecks efficiently.

5. Proficient in programming languages such as Java, C#, or Go; solid understanding of computer theory and experience in virtual machine tuning.

6. Knowledgeable about middleware such as Redis, MySQL, ZooKeeper, Kafka, ELK, etc.

7. Experienced in various design patterns and leading the development of large-scale distributed backend services, including strategies for current limiting, disaster recovery, and downgrading.

8. Practical experience and optimization skills in microservice architecture within large-scale cloud environments.

9. Familiarity with Linux, containers, and Kubernetes.

10. Understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP and HTTP.

11. Preferably has experience with Instant Messaging (IM) systems, including design, development, and maintenance.

The Senior Lead Counsel 1 is a senior level position responsible for providing legal counsel and support to aligned countries/geographies of responsibility. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice, and guidance across a broad range of practice areas, with respect to the local laws and regulations of the country or countries for which the Country General Counsel Group Manager is responsible.

This role is responsible for providing guidance, support, and legal advice on Citi's businesses and functions in Hong Kong. This role requires thorough understanding of the business needs and expectations, combined with a solid conceptual / practical grounding in the laws and regulations of the geographies in which we operate. Provides input into strategic decisions, exercising sound legal judgement to develop proactive, risk-appropriate, and commercially practical business-oriented solutions.

Responsibilities:

• In coordination with the Country Counsel team, provides legal advice and support to Country Business Management on legal, control function and regulatory matters associated with Citi’s business activities and legal entities in the countries covered; ensures that Citi is appropriately addressing legal, regulatory, franchise and reputational risks in these countries
• Supports strategic initiatives of the businesses and functions in countries covered by providing legal guidance and interpretations of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and industry practices, and advising business management on legal matters impacting the business
• Responsible for coordinating the provision of internal and external legal support to Citi’s local businesses in Hong Kong, working closely with the relevant Regional Product Counsel (or his or her designee) to ensure that Citi’s legal needs are met in a cost-effective manner
• Develops a broad understanding of Citi’s businesses in the Hong Kong and of the major legal and regulatory risks facing those businesses
• Ensures business decisions are made with appropriate legal advice and input by applying institutional knowledge against industry standard, widely accepted business practices, laws, rules, and regulatory guidelines, escalating as appropriate
• Collaborates across internal lines of business and control/support functions to achieve coordinated and efficient outcomes on matters of common interest; coordinates closely with Legal team members, as appropriate
• Advise (or arrange for the provision of legal advice by other internal or external counsel) business management on legal and regulatory risks affecting Citi’s businesses in the Hong Kong, as well as franchise and reputational risks, to help ensure that Citi is appropriately addressing those risks
• Provides legal advice to the Citi Country Officers and country management to support Citi’s maintaining of good relations with local regulators and all other local regulatory bodies that are relevant to Citi business activities
• Assures that key legal and regulatory developments that may impact or otherwise be relevant to Citi’s businesses in the country, including those involving other financial institutions, are appropriately monitored and that country management is apprised of significant developments
• Takes an active role in any relevant country-level or cluster-level governance committees as assigned, e.g., coordinating committee, business risk & controls committee, legal & compliance committee, legal vehicle management committee; act as lawyer providing support to the country in any matter.
• Manages day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility and provide senior advisory services to business partners
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
• Excellent command of local languages
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of international, multi-jurisdictional laws and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
• Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to maintain trusted relationships
• Membership of local Bar/Lawyers Association
