Arena Investors, LP (“Arena”) is a global investment firm and merchant capital provider that seeks to generate attractive, risk-adjusted, and uncorrelated returns by investing in a highly diversified portfolio across the entire credit spectrum in areas where conventional sources of capital are scarce.  We are seeking a talented individual to join our Private Credit / Illiquid team in the APAC region. 

The successful candidate will be expected to originate, evaluate, and execute investment ideas and manage deal processes throughout APAC, in all illiquid asset classes including but not limited to corporate credit, real estate, and structured finance among others. Proven ability to create new PnL sources organically whether as an intrapreneur or in a startup venture is a plus.

Arena’s investments are typically complex, flexibly structured, geographically / industry agnostic, and usually considered to be “non-traditional” or “esoteric” illiquid middle market positions.  The firm follows an investment process that is fundamentals driven and capitalizes upon “process driven wrinkles,” “perceived risk”, and other “special situations” in order to generate superior risk-adjusted returns.  The successful candidate will have experience illiquid asset classes and have at least one sector, geography, or asset class specialty while having a strong general experience illiquid investments.

Arena has a flexible multi-strategy investment mandate to directly originate both performing and non-performing opportunities in corporate, specialty finance, real estate, and energy investments.  Transaction sizes typically range from $10 to $50 million.

Responsibilities:

·         Actively market, source, and develop new relationships and source transactions from intermediaries, sponsors and directly with borrowers 

·         Develop unique investment ideas and evaluate new industries for potential investments

·         Help accelerate the growth of new or nascent financing platforms

·         Screen new transactions, prepare, issue, negotiate and execute term sheets

·         Build operating models, perform valuation analysis, financial analysis and conduct industry research

Assist finance function for all financial aspects, including but not limited to:

About the Role

Roles and Responsibilities:

Fund Performance Analysis

• Conduct quantitative fund analysis to dissect the feature and performance of competitors’ fund products.
• Conduct multi-dimensional fund comparison between AIMHK’s funds and competing funds.
• Work with Group Investment’s Middle Office, AIMHK’s investment teams and AIAHK’s stakeholders to prepare regular and ad hoc fund performance related reports.

Portfolio Modelling & Simulation

• Conduct portfolio modelling, simulation and back-testing to validate and support new product ideas.
• Propose optimal asset and/or regional allocation mix for new fund products based on in-depth quantitative analysis and simulation.

Fund Ranking Modelling

• Manage and maintain an in-house developed Visual Basic fund ranking model.
• Run the fund ranking model on a regular basis and report the ranking results to AIAHK’s ILP team as part of AIMHK’s Type 4 advisory services.

Model Portfolios For ILAS/PLP Customers

• Assist AIAHK’s ILP team with the development and ongoing monitoring of model portfolios for ILAS/PLP customers.
• Conduct in-depth fund style and scenario analysis on funds on AIAHK’s ILAS platform to enhance the performance of model portfolios.

Ad hoc Quantitative Analysis

• Provide ad hoc quantitative analysis on investment fund markets.
• Communicate the findings to fellow colleagues of the Product & Business Development team. 

Stakeholder Management

• Establish good rapport with stakeholders within AIA Group, including AIAHK (e.g. investment, ILP & MPF teams), Group Investment (e.g. GIMO) and AIAIM in Singapore. 
• Provide investment & fund related supports to the MPF and ILAS teams of AIAHK. 

Minimum Job Requirements:

• At least 10 years of experience in quantitative finance or portfolio/fund analysis in fund houses, investment banks or financial institutions.
• Postgraduate qualification in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, actuarial science, or quantitative-related subjects.
• Well-verse in Visual Basic, Bloomberg and Morningstar system.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Product Development

• Propose and develop multi-asset fund solutions to grow AIAHK’s investment-linked and pension business through partnering with AIAHK’s MPF & ILAS teams as well as Group Investment’s Unit-linked and Pension Business team in Singapore.
• Draft and present fund product proposal to enhance AIMHK product range and competitiveness. 

Product Management & Coordination

• Coordinate internal departments and external parties in relation to the development and ongoing management of AIMHK’s fund products.
• Act as a de-facto project manager to plan, manage and coordinate new fund launching as well as existing fund revamping processes.

Product Communication & Advisory

• Represent AIMHK to communicate fund product features to internal agents, external brokers and end-customers through face-to-face meetings and virtual media.
• Lead the development of AIMHK's product brochure, fund factsheet, investment-related marketing collateral & training materials.

Product Intelligence

• Act as a specialized source of market intelligence on competitors’ product feature and fund performance as well as trends of new product development.

Stakeholder Management

Department Objective

The objective of the Custody, Staking, and DeFi team is to develop a market-leading suite of products and services that meet clients’ evolving requirements in a competitive and cost-effective manner. The team also works tactically with Technology, Operations, and clients to find practical solutions for immediate requirements.

Ideally, the new joiner requires an understanding of the Custody, Staking, and DeFi business, the technical aspects of blockchain’s foundations, and a sheer drive to succeed with the team.

Both analytical and creative capabilities are required. This includes working with various parties to identify detailed solutions, prepare proposals, and gain management approval for variations when commercially viable. Additionally, finding innovative solutions using existing functionality without the need for development is important. The team operates in a rapidly evolving environment and having knowledge of operational controls, regulatory requirements, risk management, and cybersecurity principles is highly beneficial.

Corporate Accounting

• Build and maintain quantitative models to identify investment opportunity and forecast investment trends.
• Conduct macro investment research and formulate tactical asset allocation strategies and tactics for multi-asset products.

• Identify and select well-performing funds for AIMHK managed multi-manager products to enhance investment performance.

Support Product Development
