About the Role

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Risk Appetite Statement & Tolerances: Primary accountability for the development, maintenance and monitoring of the Group’s Risk Appetite Statement, principles and tolerances for the Group.
• Insurance & ALM-related Risk Policies, Standards and Guidelines: Primary accountability for the development, maintenance and implementation of the relevant risk management framework for the Group.
• Overall Insurance Risk: Provide Group-level risk oversight of AIA’s product development & approval, inforce management, reinsurance, actuarial assumption setting and claims & underwriting. Recommend management actions to manage insurance risks where appropriate. 
• ALM Risk: Monitor and report the ALM risk through active participation in the annual SAA review exercise. Recommend management actions to manage ALM risk where appropriate.
• Regulatory Solvency Risk: Develop and apply the Group stress & scenario testing framework to monitor the Group’s solvency and financial strength both on an actual and prospective basis. Recommend management actions to manage regulatory solvency risk where appropriate.
•  Own Risk Solvency Assessment (“ORSA”) & Recovery Plan: Lead the annual ORSA and Recovery Plan for AIA Group, and identify potential business actions deriving from these analyses.
• Develop leading indicators and compile relevant management information to assist the Group Financial Risk Committee to understand and oversee the insurance, ALM and regulatory solvency risk profile.
• Risk Capital model: Maintain and enhance in line with new developments and market conditions.
• Lead and participate in financial risk-related ad-hoc projects based on senior management requests or external developments.
   

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance and/or related area. Qualified actuary and FRM preferred
• 15+ years of actuarial, insurance business, investment or finance experience within a large-scale financial services environment
• Proven track record of initiating policy and control improvement and driving programs that enhance transparency, governance or control
• Expert analysis and decision-making skills
• Proactive, driven leader with the ability to operate effectively from the conceptual stage through to successful implementation
• Strong influencing and interpersonal relationship skills to build networks across organization
• Excellent presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively up, down, and across the organization. Ability to articulate complex information in a compelling and succinct manner
• Candidates with less experience or not meeting all job requirements will be considered for a more junior position.

About the Role

• Responsible for reviewing the business strategy/plan of business units under the RCE’s purview and ensuring that the strategy and plans are in line with Group Strategy.
• Review business and financial results of the countries on monthly basis
• Supporting the RCE through leading the business planning process and consolidating business plans of the local business unites under purview.
• Responsible for reviewing the spend beyond the CEO’s limits of the business units under the RCE’s purview and making the appropriate recommendations.
• Working closely with all Functional Heads at Group level to address/resolve issues for the business units under the RCE’s jurisdiction.
• Supporting the RCE in the preparation of required reporting expected at the Group Exco and responsible for the consolidation of the performance of business units required at Group level.
• Participate in the annual budget process. Review the business plans of the local business units and drive the periodic business review of the financial performance. Develop and implement analytical tools for the periodical review of the financial performance of business units under the RCE’s purview.
• Participate in Group projects and partner business units in key projects
• Achievement of target financial results by country – VONB, OPAT, UFSG, expense ratio
• Ensure the long-term sustainability of the performance of the business
• Feasibility and Execution of recommendations.
• Ensures that financial figures are developed and presented consistent with Group business strategy

Minimum Job Requirements

• At least 10 years of all-round business planning experience with the last 5 years in financial sector.
• Candidates with less experience will be considered for Associate Director level
• Has worked in insurance environment.
• Preferably with MNCs.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Strong influencing skills.
• High energy level and proactive.
• Analytical and result-driven.

Internship Period: 11 June 2024 to 16 August 2024

The purpose of our 10-weeks programme is to provide students, who are passionate in Insurance industry, the opportunity to understand our business through hands-on work experience, projects and programme activities.

What you will learn and develop:

Depending on the suitable development opportunities in Group Risk Management

In the Group Financial Risk Management Team, you may be involved in:

• Assist the risk team in the development of stress capital template, such as Excel base modeling/VBA coding and UAT
• Assist in analysis and visualization of data
• Draft and document production process
• Perform guided research

In the Derivative Risk Management Team, you may be involved in:

• Development of financial derivative risk analytics for various hedge programmes
• Research on the use of derivative strategies by insurance companies
• Development of credit risk database for China provinces and re-development of the reporting template for liquidity

In the Group Operational Risk Management Team, you may be involved in:

• Supporting oversight of AIA Group Risk and Control Assessment related activities
• Conducting analysis over Operational Risk data to provide insights and recommendations
• Assisting with the design, development and testing of new features and functionality of related Risk and Compliance systems
• Supporting the launch and implementation of new/revised Operational Risk related processes

In the Group Technology Risk Management Team, you may be involved in:

• Support on research and development of 2nd line of defense technology risk & control framework for AIA Group.
• Draft research on a variety of Technology Risk domains including emerging risk landscape.
• Assist in establishing a support / relationship framework with AIA Business Units
• Help identify internal and external subject matter experts with the aim of building an active network of industry practitioners for knowledge / best practice exchange.
• Evaluate data analytics opportunities to proactively identify technology risks / control breaks.

Reoles and Responsibilities:

• Perform risk assessments on a wide range of financial risk topics such as strategic asset allocation, internal capital and solvency management, inforce management, product and reinsurance pricing.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback while working with local BU risk officers to develop risk mitigation strategies which are practical and commercially sound.
• Develop and/or review standards, guidance notes, templates and other governance “tools” to support financial risk management processes in local BU’s.
• Risk Appetite Statement & Tolerances: Primary accountability for the development, maintenance, and monitoring of the Group’s Risk Appetite Statement, principles and tolerances for the Group.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years’ actuarial experience in a life insurer/reinsurer
• Significant practical experience in the fields of life insurance/reinsurance capital management or product pricing or internal economic capital model
• Fellowship in a recognized international actuarial professional body
• Assertive, self-motivated and customer-orientated
