My client, a leading hedge fund in Hong Kong with global presence, is actively seeking a talented and innovative Data Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the team, you will leverage advanced analytics techniques and machine learning algorithms to extract valuable insights from complex financial data. Your expertise will contribute to the enhancement of their proprietary investment tool and the optimization of portfolio performance. Responsibilities: Data Processing and Integration: Collect, cleanse, and preprocess financial data from diverse sources, including market data feeds, economic indicators, and company filings, using AWS Glue (Python, SQL, PySpark). Develop robust data pipelines and frameworks to ensure efficient data processing and integration for analysis and model development. Data Analysis and Modeling: Apply statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques to uncover meaningful patterns and relationships within extensive financial datasets. Quantitative Research: Conduct research and develop innovative quantitative models and strategies to enhance investment performance. Collaborate closely with portfolio managers and research analysts to identify and validate new data sources, refine investment hypotheses, and improve investment decision-making processes. Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate complex quantitative concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders, including portfolio managers, senior management, and clients. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making and ensure alignment between quantitative research and investment strategies. Requirements: 3+ years of experience in a data engineering role Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Strong proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization techniques. Experience with Python, SQL, Spark, and AWS services such as Glue, Data lake, Delta lake, Lambda, SNS, QuickSight, CloudFormation, IAM, CodeCommit, Git, and Code Pipeline. Solid understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and risk management principles. Experience working with extensive financial datasets, including market data, economic indicators, and alternative data sources. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
