Position Overview

Forum is our Content Creation business. We produce research that allows institutional investors to make better and faster investment decisions. We conduct in depth Interviews with senior executives and industry specialists to unearth critical insights and generate unfiltered transcripts. 

Our 175-strong industry aligned team covers over 18,000 public and private companies, applying data-driven factor models to identify where capital is most likely to be deployed.  

In order for us to deliver on our ambitious growth targets, we would like to recruit an Associate to assist our growing team in Hong Kong and Japan in identifying and engaging with the most relevant industry professionals to take part in upcoming interview discussions.

Responsibilities

In this role your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Performing research on industries and businesses in Pan-Asia region, with a focus on the Japan market, in order to source and identify the most relevant individuals (C-level executives and practitioners working at the heart of their industries) to take part in moderated interviews

• Engaging these individuals to invite them to participate in our research, while assessing and ensuring that their insights are relevant and their fees are within budget
• Building a professional network and monitoring the relevant markets/companies in the assigned sector areas according to Forum content coverage strategies
• Working in tight deadlines and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders across different global offices

Requirements

• A real interest in financial markets and the alternative investments space
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently interact with C-level industry experts on the phone
• Demonstrable skill in carrying out phone-based and desktop research with a logical and focused approach
• Self-motivated; a resourceful nature, with a diligent and proactive approach to their work
• The ability to work well within a team, in a fast-paced environment and under pressure. Positive and can-do attitude are essential
• The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively and reached assigned KPIs
• Obtained a score of >3.0 GPA if you’re a fresh graduate
   

What you’ll do

As an Associate, you’ll spend much of your time on the phone, tracking down experts, building relationships with them and persuading them to speak to our clients. Ultimately, it’s about finding out whether they’re the right fit for our clients’ needs, and whether they know the answers to the questions our clients want to ask.

Then, you’ll set up consultations between our clients and the experts you find and negotiate the terms of each meeting. All while continuing to develop and strengthen the relationships you create.

This role is part of our Client Services Team, within the Public Equities & Credit vertical.

As an Associate, you’ll be the person driving relationships by enabling our clients to connect to the industry experts that will help them. During your initial training period, you’ll hone your skills targeting, sourcing and screening relevant industry specialists, including C-Level executives at Fortune 500 companies. After this period, you’ll advance to directly managing your own book of business composed of major Public Equity and Credit investment funds. You’ll spend much of your time on the phone, both with your clients, to unpack what they need from an expert, and with industry specialists, to find the perfect match. Ultimately, it’s about uncovering what our clients need, digging deep to help them solve their most pressing problems, and connecting them to key thought leaders from every corner of the market.

Responsibilities

• Understand Public Equity client needs and the most relevant experts that could help them.

• Deliver excellent client service by being a fast, responsive, thoughtful and proactive research partner.

• Engage with industry experts for our clients by reaching out over the phone and through professional correspondences, to understand whether they are the right fit

  • This would also involve regularly cold-calling potential experts who uniquely match the project requirements

  • A substantial portion of your daily activities would involve engaging in telephone conversations with specialists who possess distinctive relevance to your clients’ projects, frequently amidst stringent time constraints

• Negotiate and persuade experts to connect with our clients at short notice, scheduling calls as soon as possible, whilst operating within our industry leading compliance framework. 

• After 4-5 months you’ll be driving the long-term performance of your book of business, by understanding the clients’ research needs and monitoring how our content can best help them on a continual basis.

Our comprehensive onboarding program includes both classroom-based and on-the-job learning that will teach you the fundamentals of our business, how our clients think, how to sell our value proposition to secure experts and how to explore a multitude of industry sectors in order to provide an excellent service to our clients.

You will also learn how to identify industry experts as well as developing your communication skills to engage with industry specialists/senior professionals over the phone.

Typically, but not exclusively, after 4 to 6 months in your Third Bridge journey you will have mastered Specialist Management, you will then progress to our Client Engagement Learning Programme to take on client relationship building and project management responsibilities. You’ll learn how to engage with investor and management consulting clients, drive business results and lead project delivery teams.

• Problem solver: Consulting clients count on us for their research needs, it’s our job to execute on their requests for experts.
  In practice: you will search for relevant content and vet experts to support your clients at each stage of their research.They operate under very tight deadlines that we have to match with urgency, but not at the expense of quality.
• Business driver: understanding excellent client servicing in a highly competitive market and how your work impacts revenue growth. Work with your team to execute strategies for the accounts you are responsible for.
  In practice: on every project, you will have an opportunity to drive performance by delivering on client requests. Each client and expert interaction is an opportunity to bring in revenue and build your book of business.

Associate, Private Equity Clients

As an Associate you’ll have opportunities to work with the sharpest minds in private equity funds. They will rely on you for access to the most relevant experts and content, which you are responsible for identifying and recommending to them throughout their investment lifecycles. To do so you'll gather a unique set of commercial skills that will help you deliver extraordinary results for both clients and experts, and grow professionally. The projects can be complex, but the impact is meaningful - every day you will get to hear directly from your clients, experts and colleagues about the difference you have made.  

The hats you will wear:

• Problem solver: A client can challenge you with any company name and questions: you’ll break down an industry within minutes, suggest who they should speak with and what they should read.
  In practice: you will search for relevant content and vet experts to support your clients at each stage of their research. You will not give them investment advice.
• Salesperson: listen to your clients and tailor our offering in a way that best suits their unique needs. Use your negotiation and persuasion skills to create value for our specialists.
  In practice: you will pitch our entire suite of products (content and expert calls) to investors in your book of business, and you will convince experts (from CEOs to technical experts) to speak to your clients about their industry.
• Business developer: understand the drivers of profitable revenue and find your path to grow it. Work with your team to execute strategies for the accounts you are responsible for.
  In practice: this could mean calling investors who have never used our services to build relationships and get business from them. 
• Learner: apply the knowledge and skills you acquire on the job to improve your productivity and find innovative ways to continue advancing our business model.
