Prenetics is looking for a highly motivated Clinical Research Scientist & Laboratory Manager to lead our clinical research and development (R&D) projects and team. In this role you will be responsible for leading the clinical research and development (R&D) team, serve as project manager, and perform research activities. You will also be responsible for supporting the trouble shooting of the clinical service. You will independently and proactively identify process issues and recommend solutions given critical timelines. This work is interdisciplinary and involves collaboration with lab operation scientists, R&D scientists, as well as the bioinformatics and clinical team. You will have ample opportunity to significantly contribute to the development of our evolving technologies. You will report to the Chief Scientific Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Workflow Development and Optimization:
- Develop, test, and refine the experimental workflow to ensure scalability, accuracy, and efficiency in generation of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.
- Collaborate with laboratory testing personnel, R&D team members, and bioinformatics & clinical team for the development of workflow.
- Lead Clinical R&D Team:
- Lead the team of clinical R&D members and monitor their day-to-day activities.
- Interact with stakeholders, such as Chief Clinical Officer, Chief Scientific Officer, and Senior Research Scientist, to transform the company level R&D and production requirements into operations.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with genomic scientists, clinical researchers, bioinformatics team, marketing team, and operation teams etc to develop and optimize the workflow for the implementation of the R&D results to real production mode.
- Provide comprehensive support to existing R&D projects, including but not limited to troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance optimizations.
- Research Samples Management for R&D Service:
- Build, curate, and maintain databases to record all research samples.
- Arrange the clinical samples for different research projects and test for the performance of genetic tests.
- Handle clinical samples.
- Person-in-charge and backup of all research projects.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively identify process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and data quality.
- Stay updated on emerging bioinformatics methodologies, tools, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
- In charge the Prenetics Laboratory:
- Monitor, maintain, and lead the Prenetics laboratory.
- In-charge-of all daily R&D activities in the Prenetics laboratory.
- Monitor all purchasing and laboratory equipment maintenance activities.
- Required: MSc in Biomedical science, life sciences or related field.
- Required: With at least 10 years’ working and management experience in the industry in the molecular biology field is preferred.
- Required: Strong hands-on experience and knowledge in NGS (WES & WGS), qPCR, microarray technologies, and other molecular technologies.
- Required: Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), Part I, holder for at least 5 years.
- Required: Strong experience and detailed understanding of the molecular test and genetic test, with at least 10 years’ experience in the industry is preferred.
- Required: Eagerness in taking ownership of day-to-day R&D works and support operations.
- Required: Comprehensive knowledges in ISO15189 and CAP systems
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
