SUMMARY
As Wealth consultants, we help clients (sponsors of pension funds, endowments, other institutional asset pools and retirement pensions) to achieve their objectives by advising on appropriate strategies and policies. We provide expertise advice on a wide range of investment-related topics such as strategic asset allocation, sustainable investing, asset liability modelling, and risk strategy and retirement-related advisory such as retirement pension plan design and actuarial valuation etc.
The Korea focused wealth analyst will be based in Hong Kong to support investment and retirement business from technical, analytical and operational aspects and provide high quality advisory and client solution services in English and Korean. Wealth analyst is also responsible for supporting consultants in delivery of investment and retirement advisory projects, client work and business development support activities.
Wealth Analyst is expected to be self-motivated and tackle problems independently, while also working under the guidance from senior team members.
Position Scope
Job Responsibility
- Support the full cycle client projects through independent research, data analysis applying relevant methodologies, drafting written reports, preparing proposals and attending client meetings.
- Contribute to projects through effective management of tasks, and directly lead some smaller client deliverables.
- Assist in client’s portfolio management analysis, including asset allocation, investment manager selection, fund performance, risk and attribution analysis, leveraging Mercer’s proprietary analytics tools, internal databases and third party resources.
- Prepare marketing materials and assist in researching complex inquiries. Support business development initiatives and proposals.
- Perform actuarial valuation for Korean pension plan to support corporates’ financial reporting in accordance with IAS19 and USGAAP
- Involve various retirement projects, including pension design, actuarial valuation projects, relevant surveys and data analysis and information search.
- Initiate and lead implementation of ideas that will improve the efficiency, accuracy, controls in relation to assigned work or projects.
- Guide interns in completing basic analytical and written tasks, to support your deliverables to senior colleagues.
Job Requirements
- Degree qualified and/or post graduate qualification. Good academic track record in numerical subjects such as economics, finance, accounting, actuarial science or related field.
- 2~3 years of proven working experiences in the asset management, banking, financial services, pension and consulting.
- Strong analytical and technical skills. Comfortable with conducting complex comparative analysis with large data sets in an efficient manner.
- Familiar with global firm’s environment by independently and proactively working with high responsibilities and actively participating for team work.
- Strong organizational skills, task prioritization, attention to detail, ability to exercise sound judgment and independent problem-solving skills.
- Experience of writing or summarising research reports for market/valuation analysis in a professional capacity will support your application
- A team-player attitude and ability to develop relationships. Have strong self-initiative and curiosity in financial services, self-motivated to seek out knowledge, test ideas and ways to contribute to the team.
- Positive attitude and strong personal management in order to plan ahead for foreseeable tasks, and understand own capacity for unforeseeable tasks.
- Demonstrate ability to break down complex problems and offer solutions. Ability to complete work independently in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.
- Attention to detail, organized and ability to multi-tasks.
- Good command on MS Office applications (MS-Excel, MS-Word, Outlook). Strong IT skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Have completed or are close to completing professional relating to investment/asset management and/or actuarial field.
- Language requirements: Strong communication skills in Korean and English, both written and verbal.
