Prenetics is looking for a highly motivated Clinical Bioinformatics Manager to join our bioinformatics team. In this role you will be responsible for analyzing NGS (Next-generation sequencing) data. You will also be responsible for supporting the clinical and bioinformatics teams to manage the queries. You will independently and proactively identify process issues and recommend solutions given critical timelines. This work is interdisciplinary and involves collaboration with lab scientists, R&D scientists, engineers and the bioinformatics team. You will have ample opportunity to significantly contribute to the development of our evolving technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the bioinformatics operations of the company.
- Develop and test the bioinformatics pipelines.
- Work with engineering team to deploy and manage bioinformatics workflows.
- Work with genomic and clinical scientists and software engineers to develop novel bioinformatics solutions.
- Provide Bioinformatics support to existing products
- Build and maintain genotype and phenotype databases
- Required: Masters in computer science, bioinformatics, information systems or related field with at least 2 years’ experience working in the industry is preferred.
- Required: 2+ years of experience with variety of NGS bioinformatics tools - GATK, samtools, bwa etc
- Required : 2+ years of experience with Linux/Unix system and Github
- Required: Eagerness in taking ownership of day-to-day production and support operations
- Preferred: Strong experience in analyzing variety format of sequencing data - NGS, GWAS, long-read-seq etc
- Preferred: Strong experience and detailed understanding of the statistical and algorithmic workings of modern variant calling packages
- Preferred: Experience using statistical computer language (R, Python, SQL, etc) to manipulate NGS data and draw insights
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
